Sejong Hospital started out as a hospital specializing in heart disease, equipped with up-to-date equipment for the diagnosis and surgery of various kinds of heart disease in 1982. They were the first who succeeded developing artificial heart in Korea, and soon after, performing heart transplantation. They have performed 20, 000 cases of heart surgery up to now in short period of time.
Designated as the only hospital specializing in heart disease by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, it performs about 1300 cases of heart surgery, and more than 4400 procedures and tests a year, making up 10% of domestic cases. It occasionally performs cardiac surgery for other university general hospitals.

It offers One-stop service and 24/7 operation for more and better treatments, and emergency patients can get surgery within one hour.

The hospital is acknowledged not only nationally but internationally. Patients from more than 29 countries including Russia, Kazakhstan, China and US come to get treatments. It has treated more than 160 foreign patients until 2009.

It provides foreign patients with reserved beds and international care coordinators. It's actively participating in performing international medical services on behalf of Korea, where needed such as Russia, Kazakhstan and Bangladesh every year.
