Scores of international dissertations on gamma-knife
 

Gamma-knife Center of Seoul National University Hospital has performed 5,000th gamma-knife operation in Aug 2011 since opening in 1997 and leads in this field.
The Center has Perfection, the most recent gamma-knife model, and treatment planning system, and gamma-knife operations are performed by 10 staff including of 3 professors of neurosurgery and 1 physicist in medicine. The center performs over 600 operations annually. The center became a global gamma-knife center by treating patients from all over the world including the US, Canada, Russia, Australia, China, Mongolia.
Close to 40 dissertatioins are published or selected by SCI International Journal as at Mar 2012. The center is improving the effects and safety of the operation by analyzing results from various areas such as acoustic tumor, meningioma, brain metastasis, cerebral arteriovenous malformation which are the main areas for gamma-knife operations and studying factors affecting the results.
Professor (Vice-president of research) Kim Dong Gyu who is leading the Center is the director of International Stereotactic Radiosurgery Society and an editor for a prominent international journal. Professor Jung Hyun Tae is working as a committee member for standardizing technical terms for gamma-knife operationis for International Gamma-knife Academy.
Professor Kim said that "We plan to conduct clinical researches on various treatments using gamma-knife by prospectively studying".
